In March 2013, the Hong Kong Paediatric Society (HKPS) commissioned the Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong to conduct this “Survey on Hong Kong Citizens’ Knowledge of Meningitis”. Target population of this survey was Cantonese-speaking Hong Kong Citizens of age 18 or above. The main objective of this survey was to gauge Hong Kong citizens’ awareness and prevention of Meningitis.
The research instrument used in this study was designed by the POP Team after consulting HKPS. Meanwhile, fieldwork operations, data collection and analysis were conducted independently by the POP Team, without interference from the commissioning body or any outside party. In other words, although POP has sought opinion from HKPS regarding the questionnaire design, POP was given full autonomy to design and operate the study. In return, POP would take full responsibility for all the findings reported herewith.
