Arrangements for DDay1 of the “OCLP Deliberation Series”Back

May 23, 2013

The Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong is commissioned by the Secretariat of the “Occupy Central with Love and Peace” (OCLP) to organize the “OCLP Deliberation Series”, which aims to let members of the general public and supporters of the campaign formulate proposals for the 2017 CE Election through rational discussions. According to the preliminary plan, there will be three Deliberation Days (DDays) in the Deliberation Series, each comprises of one module for the general public and another module for campaign supporters. For the general public, POP will invite Hong Kong citizens to participate in the event via random telephone calls, while for the campaign supporters, they will be invited by the OCLP Secretariat.

Robert Ting-Yiu Chung, Director of POP, today at a press conference emphasized, “POP is providing the OCLP Secretariat a professional service to organize the ‘OCLP Deliberation Series’, in the hope of raising the operation and result of these deliberation activities to international standards. POP stays political neutral to the ‘OCLP’ Campaign per se, and the OCLP Secretariat has already pledged to give POP full autonomy in designing and conducting all activities in the Deliberation Series.”

DDay1 of the “OCLP Deliberation Series” is now scheduled to be held on June 9 (Sunday), and the theme of deliberation is “Foreseeable Problems in the OCLP Movement”, with both the general public and supporter modules running simultaneously but in separate groups, in the campus of the University of Hong Kong. For the general public, POP will invite 100 Hong Kong citizens to participate in the event via random telephone calls, while for the campaign supporters, they will be invited by the OCLP Secretariat.
