Chronology of Constitutional Reform Back
The Centre for Communication and Public Opinion Survey (CCPOS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the Public Opinion Programme (POP) of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), and the Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS) of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)* are conducting a “Joint-University Rolling Survey on 2017 Chief Executive Election Proposal” (Joint Survey), in order to provide scientific data to the community, as well as to promote professional standards of opinion research.
In order to increase the reference value of the Joint Survey, POP compiled a “Chronology of Constitutional Reform” on a daily basis to record significant events related to the reform. Our purpose is to provide accurate information for readers to judge by themselves the reasons for the ups and downs of the opinion figures. The chronology began on 22 April 2015, until the day before Legco votes on the government proposal. The method of compilation is to use the newspaper clipping records provided by the Wisers Information Limited supplied to POP, to screen out all front page headline stories on constitutional reform or the Joint Survey, which appeared on any Hong Kong newspaper on any day during that study period. The chronology is open for public reference.
