POP Express Vol. 22 From the Editor - Welcoming the First Handover AnniversaryBack

June 1998

This month's POP Express features the change in public opinion during the first twelve months of the HKSAR's existence. The toll on the Government and the Chief Executive's credibility due to the economic crisis is remarkable, but contrary to the expectation of most people before the handover, political confidence has remained comparatively stable.

The end of the provisional legislation period marks a new era - an era for Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong. To this end, the POP Team has accelerated its effort to collect scientific opinion data for public consumption, and starting from June, has collaborated with the Hong Kong Commercial Radio to produce frequent instant polls. These polls will be released in the form of Express after they have been broadcast by the Commercial Radio.
