The death of Princess Diana has touched the soul of millions of British people, while at the same time raised the issue of whether tracking methods should be used in reporting news. According to our latest surveys, only one-quarter of Hong Kong people approved such methods. |

A sizable 44%, however, believed Hong Kong media practised self-censorship, 68% believed the media were reluctant to criticize China. Such a high expectation on the media, coupled with a large market for low grade reporting, reflects yet another double standard of the Hong Kong public. |
