Kenneth Ka-Lok Chan received his D.Phil. in Politics from Nuffield College, University of Oxford and is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Government and International Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University. He has also taught at the University of Warsaw and the University of GdaA"sk in Poland. His interests include Post-Communist Politics, Democratisation, British Politics, European Union Politics, Hong Kong Politics and East European languages. He has published articles in Europe-Asia Studies, Electoral Studies, Oxford International Review, Party Politics, West European Politics, Central and East European Political Science Review, Studia Polityczna (Poland), Druzboslovne Razprave (Slovenia), and the Hong Kong Journal of Social Sciences.

Carmen Ka-Man Chan is currently the Research Executive of Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong. She completed a double-degree programme and obtained her B.Soc.Sc. (Government & Laws) degree and LL.B. degree from the University of Hong Kong in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

Dr Kin-man Chan was graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1983. He then received a scholarship from Yale University in 1988 to study political sociology and China studies there. He was awarded a doctoral degree in sociology in 1995. Since 1993, he has been teaching at the Sociology Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is currently an associate professor there. His research interests focus on corruption, and development of civil society in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Dr Kin-man Chan is an enthusiastic teacher who has been granted distinguished teaching awards in several occasions. He was a guest host in a radio phone-in program and has been serving the Community Research Committee of the ICAC for many years.

Prof Joseph Man Chan is currently a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, the Chinese University of Hong Kong where he served as a former director. He has published many journal articles and book chapters on international communication, political communication, impact of information technology, as well as communications development in Greater China. He has co-authored Mass Media and Political Transition: The Hong Kong Press in China's Orbit, Hong Kong Journalists in Transition, Global Media Spectacle, and co-edited Mass Media and Societal Development, Mass Media and Economy, Press and Politics, In Search of Boundaries: Communication, Nation-States and Cultural Identities. He served as a President of the Chinese Communication Association, a visiting scholar at Harvard, Oxford and UC Berkeley and a member of the Hong Kong Broadcasting Authority. He is a member of the editorial boards of a few international journals.

Dr Jennifer Chan obtained her B.Sc. degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a major in Mathematics. After her four years' of teaching in a secondary school, she went back to the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she obtained her M.Phil. degree in Statistics. Then she further her studies in Statistics and obtained her PhD degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. She is now a lecturer in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, the University of Hong Kong. She has more than 12 years of experience in statistical research and her research areas include development of statistical methods for complicated models and application of these methodologies on social science and medicine. Cliff Kwong-Pok Chow is currently the Assistant Computer Officer of Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong. He completed a Bachelor degree programme and obtained his B.Sci. Applied Computing (First Class) degree from the Hong Kong Baptist University in 1998.

Dr Boris Choy obtained his PhD degree in Statistics from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, the University of London, England. He is a Chartered Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society and a Committee Member of the Hong Kong Statistical Society. He has more than 12 years of experience in statistical research and his main research areas are on the development of statistical methods for complicated models and in the applications on insurance, finance and medicine. Dr Robert Chung is the Director of Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong. Dr Chung joined the Social Sciences Research Centre of the University of Hong Kong in 1987 when it was founded. In 1991 he established the POP, which is now directly under the Faculty of Social Sciences. Up to this date, POP has conducted about 600 independent surveys, covering media development, electoral studies, and many political and livelihood issues. Dr Chung has been the chief editor of POP's newsletter "POP Express", and POP's website. He has written extensively on public opinion. He is also the Warden of R.C. Hall in the University of Hong Kong, a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), and a panelist of the Television Programme Advisory Panel of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). Between 1994 and 1999, he served as a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit of the Hong Kong Government.

Mr Kam Lam is currently an occasional contributor to Hong Kong Economic Journal. Born in Hong Kong, Mr Lam holds a B.A.(Honours) degree from Oxford University where he read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He was also educated at College of Law, Guildford and qualified as a solicitor in London before returning to Hong Kong in 1987. Mr Lam retired from the law in 1999.

Calvin Mo-Chun Lam graduated with a B.S.Sc degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2001, where he read Journalism, Communication and Sociology. He joined the Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong since his graduation, and is currently reading a M.S.Sc degree in Corporate Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His major research interests include: cultural studies, media analysis, crisis management, and corporate image.

Francis L. F. Lee holds a Ph.D. degree in communication from Standford University. He is an assistant professor at the Department of English and Communication at the City University of Hong Kong. His major research interests are public opinion, journalism and political communication.

Dr Leong-Kwan Li studied in the Chinese University of Hong Kong for six years and graduated with an M.Phil degree. After teaching in a secondary school in Choi Hung, he continued his study in the University of Southern California. There, he sat in more courses than he took and obtained the degrees of MSc(EE) and PhD. He has been teaching in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University since 1993 and he is a committee member of the Hong Kong Statistical Society. Mo-Yan Leung was graduated from Geography Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Then she studied in the Department of Administration of Justice at Southern Illinois University and obtained a M.S. degree. Afterwards, she joined the sector of social service for many years, served as a front-line caseworker and program administrator at a shelter which provides accommodation and care for unaccompanied minors in Chicago.

Karie Ka-Lai Pang joined the Public Opinion Programme (POP) at the University of Hong Kong in 1997, and is currently its Programme Manager. She graduated with a B.B.A. (First Class) degree in 1997 and obtained a M.A. degree in Journalism in 2004, both from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her major research interests include journalism, media development, consumer behavior, and public opinion applications.

Dr Clement York-Kee So is currently an associate professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was deputy editor-in-chief of Vancouver's Ming Pao Daily News and reporter of World Journal, and marketing researcher of HK-TVB. He graduated with a bachelor's degree (sociology) and a master's degree (communication) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Ph.D. degree from the Annenberg School for Communication, the University of Pennsylvania. His major research interests include: Hong Kong press, news sociology, citation analysis, and development of the field of communication.

Irene Tong was born in Hong Kong and received her undergraduate and post-graduate training at the University of Hong Kong and the University of Toronto respectively. She specializes in gender and the politics of development. She does research in Hong Kong and China and is active in the local women's movement.
